Today, the significant increase in traffic on any National Highway stretch is now managed by various independent traffic control centers, but our ATMS system, which is based upon hub-spoke architecture:
The system collects and delivers information concerning the road status, traffic hold-ups, accidents, congestions as well as environmental data as weather data, etc. This selected information is also made available to drivers by different channels as traffic information displays or radio and traffic information systems.
Variable Message Signboards - Variable Message Sign provides information related to safety and all surrounding activities like weather information, congestion, diversion, etc. directly to the road user.
CCTV Cameras and Surveillance - CCTV system transfers real-time streams of the highway to the control center and provides information for traffic management, and according to situation operator broadcast the information for road users through VMS.
Emergency Call Boxes - ECB is indigenously designed to meet the very demanding conditions on highways and meant for adverse environments and for road-users to report an accident /incident on the expressway to request for assistance.
Weather Management and Control - Meteorological Data Station (MDS) is a device used for efficiently managing, acquisition, processing, and distribution of weather information to the road users.
VIDS - Automatic Video Incident System is deployed in situations where 100% visual coverage is required, and consists of Video image processor, Method of communication (modem, leased line, fiber network, etc.), Fixed CCTV Camera.
Automatic Traffic Counter and Classifier (ATCC) – This ATCC is traffic data collection system which provides a low-cost means of recording vehicle classification deprived of any interruption. With this system, the vehicles are classified as per their classes.
Mobile Radio Communication System (MRCS) – This MRCS is provided to successfully create a voice communication on the radio between emergency mobile vehicles like an ambulance or patrolling vans and Control Room. The system, in general, comprises of a repeater unit, base station unit, control center equipment. The system covers entire route and doesn't affect the functioning of other telecom equipment that is installed along or adjacent to it.
In addition to this, the other components of our ATMS are portable VMS & WIMS, Vehicle actuated radar speed system and Travel Time Estimation System (TTES).
